Wildflower Adventure in the Rolling Hills of Berkeley

Event: 263
Distance: 6 miles
Elevation gain: 1505 ft
Difficulty: 7 out of 10
Route type: loop
Hike Overview:
Join Nature Bloomers to experience some of the most scenic trails in the East Bay! We will make our way up Panoramic Hill, following the beautiful Panoramic Ridge along the Upper Strawberry Canyon Fire Trail to Chaparral Peak. From there, we’ll descend via the newer fire trail below Grizzly Peak and reconnect with the lower Strawberry Canyon trail. Along the way, you will enjoy sweeping views of San Francisco, Oakland, and the Bay, surrounded by eucalyptus, pine, and oak forests. We’ll meet in the parking lot at 9:30 AM and depart promptly at 9:45 AM.

Be Prepared:
This is a moderately challenging to challenging hike, taking approximately 3.5 hours to complete. Expect a mix of steady climbs, descents, and rolling fire roads. The area is popular with hikers, runners, and birdwatchers, so we’ll likely encounter others on the trail. Dogs are welcome, and some sections allow off-leash activity. Please wear layered clothing, sturdy hiking shoes, and bring sunscreen, water, snacks, and a positive attitude.
Parking:
Parking is available on Stonewall and Tanglewood Drives, but spaces are limited, especially on weekends.
Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Additional unrestricted parking can be found along the east side of Claremont Ave (south of Route 13/Ashby). Please avoid parking in bus stops.
Legal Disclaimers:
By voluntarily joining us for any event, you hereby RELEASE and DISCHARGE Nature Bloomers’ organizers, hosts, and participants from any and all liabilities, claims, demands, and causes of action arising in whole or in part out of our events. Your attendance implies your consent to be in photos and videos used for social media.
