Eastern Sierra Tour
May 25 @ 7:00 pm - May 27 @ 11:00 pm
$990.00 – $1,640.00In collaboration with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LAWP), Nature Bloomers is pleased to offer the fun and educational tour of the Eastern Sierra. Running east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, there is a road of superlatives: highest, lowest, hottest, deepest, oldest – the US Highway 395 passes close by a whole host of -ests. And then there are the ghost towns, living towns, hot springs, tufa formations, film locations and more.
Yet for all its many attractions, it’s relatively unexplored, especially compared to California’s other big name draws. It takes a couple of days to get a good feel for the region so join us on a north-south, semi-secret, always spectacular road trip.
The Trip:
You’ll be exploring the natural features along Highway 395, including the hot springs, tufa formations of Mono Lake, Crowley Lake, June Lake, and the ghost town of Bodie. You’ll be learning a lot on this trip including:
- The history of water conflicts in Eastern California and how they are managed
- How hot springs, salt lakes, and fresh water lakes were formed in Eastern Sierra
- The history of the ghost town and how it got famous
