Just 90 minutes from the San Jose area, Pinnacles is home to towering rock formations, stunning talus caves, and diverse landscapes, making it a perfect destination for adventure and exploration.

With Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 17, this hike is an ideal way to start your long weekend, recharge in nature, and connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you’re an avid hiker or just looking for a refreshing escape, this journey will leave you feeling invigorated!

📌 No cell reception in and around the park, so download offline maps before arriving.
🚗 Overflow Parking Location: Google Maps Link
📍 Meeting Point: In front of the Visitor Center (short walk back to the starting point).

🏞️ Trail Description

  • Total Distance: 8 miles
  • Break: One-hour stop at Bear Gulch Reservoir for lunch/snacks.
  • Terrain: A mix of shaded and open areas.
  • Talus Caves: We will pass through some caves with stepping stones, and depending on water flow, there might be short wet sections where proper footwear is recommended.

💰 Entrance Fees

🎟️ $30 per vehicle (unless you have a National Park Pass).
💳 Credit card only (cash not accepted at the entrance).

🏞️ Want to Visit More National Parks?

🍴 Food & Water

🚫 No food or purified water is available for purchase in the park.
Bring enough food and water for the entire hike (including for our reservoir break).
🍽️ Option: Leave some extra snacks or meals in your car to eat after the hike.


 

⚠️ Additional Notes

🔦 Headlamp or flashlight recommended for passing through talus caves.
🧤 Proper footwear is essential—some sections might have stepping stones over water (if the reservoir is overflowing).
