SUMMARY:Eastern Sierra Tour
DESCRIPTION:Running east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range\, there is a road of superlatives: highest\, lowest\, hottest\, deepest\, oldest – the US Highway 395 passes close by a whole host of -ests. And then there are the ghost towns\, living towns\, hot springs\, tufa formations\, film locations and more. \nYet for all its many attractions\, it’s relatively unexplored\, especially compared to California’s other big name draws. It takes a couple of days to get a good feel for the region so join us on a north-south\, semi-secret\, always spectacular road trip. \nThe Trip: \nOn this three-day event\, you’ll be exploring the natural features of road 395\, including the hot springs\, tufa formations of Mono Lake\, Crowley Lake\, June Lake\, and the ghost town of Bodie. You’ll be learning a lot on this trip including: \n\n\n\nThe history of water conflicts in Eastern California and how they are managed \n\n\nHow hot springs\, salt lakes\, and fresh water lakes were formed in Eastern Sierra \n\n\nThe history of the ghost town and how it got famous \n\n\n\nItinerary: \nMay 27th \nCheck in to Ruby Inn at Bridgeport \nHanging out in Bridgport town \nDinner (on your own) \nMay 28th \nBreakfast on the way (on your own) \nCrowley Lake columns \nLunch at June Lake (on your own) \nMono Lake \nGhost Town (If the road is open) \nFull-course dinner (provided) \nMay 29th \nCheck out \nBreakfast (provided) \nBuck Eye Hot Springs \nTour Lead: \nThe tour will be led by Dr. Zade\, a nature lover and a PhD in Water Resources.
