SUMMARY:Come See Wildlife Up Close
DESCRIPTION:Event: 267 \nDistance: 5.7 miles \nRoute Type: Loop \nTotal Elevation Gain: 213 ft \nDifficulty: 4 \nGathering location: 37.979694\, -122.365036 \n  \nHike Overview: \nJoin us for walk along the shoreline\, which offers a gorgeous view of San Pablo Bay. Point Pinole has an interesting history. It was once the site of Chinese shrimping villages and was later a center of dynamite manufacturing. In the present\, this area is home to many forms of wildlife\, including deer\, monarch butterflies and a diverse array of birds such as owls and swans. We will meet at the pinned location\, the Dotson Family Marsh staging area\, at 9:15 AM and depart promptly at 9:30 AM. From the staging area\, we will begin on the Bay Trail\, which is a wide\, paved path leading to the Dotson Family Marsh and Giant Marsh areas. We will remain on the paved path until we reach Point Pinole Trail. Then\, we will turn left and continue past the Palms picnic area until we reach the fishing pier. After trekking onto the pier\, we will turn right onto Bayview Trail\, which is a slightly uphill dirt and gravel road running along the shoreline. This will lead us back to the paved Bay Trail\, where we turn right\, traverse 3 boardwalks over the marsh and return to the staging area where we began. \n \nParking Lot: \nThere is a $5 fee per vehicle for parking at Point Pinole Park if the kiosk has an attendee. The kiosk accepts cash\, credit cards\, and Tap to Pay. Restrooms are available at the staging area. \nBe Prepared: \nPlease bring: \n\nWater (at least 1–1.5 liters)\nComfortable hiking or trail shoes an\nLight snack or fruit\nHat\, sunscreen\, and light layers\n\nLegal Disclaimers: \nBy voluntarily joining us for any event\, you hereby RELEASE and DISCHARGE Nature Bloomers organizers\, hosts and participants from any and all liability\, claims\, demands or causes of action arising in whole or in part from our events. \nBy participating in this Nature Bloomers event\, participants acknowledge that photos and videos may be taken during the activity and grant Nature Bloomers permission to use such media for promoting hiking\, outdoor activities\, and community events on social media platforms and other promotional channels.
