SUMMARY:Explore Nature\, Encounter History
DESCRIPTION:**Details:**nEvent 131nDistance: 5 milesnTotal Elevation Gain: 744 ft.nDifficulty: 6 out of 10nRoute type: LoopnGathering location: 7105 Highway 9\, Felton\, CA.nnHenry Cowell Redwoods State Park is a beautiful redwood forest that spans across 4650 acres of protected wilderness lands. A trip to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is a great outdoor escape. This State Park is home to some of the oldest and tallest redwood tree species in the world that will simply leave you in awe. The Fall Creek to Lime Kilns Trail passes creeks\, mossy river canyons\, wooden bridges\, and giant redwood groves. The main attraction here is the ruins of an old mining complex that operated in this forest between 1874-1919 and consists of historic lime kilns\, a barrel mill\, and other remains. After the factory closed\, the property slowly deteriorated. Now what remains of the complex is overgrown with bushes\, moss\, and trees as nature claim back the land. Inhale the redwood-scented air.nSo dear Nature Bloomers\, be ready to hear the forest soundtrack of birds songs and creek splash. Linda who is the wilderness patrol volunteer will be helping us to lead us through the woods.nn**Parking information:** Please park at the parking lot of San Lorenzo Valley High School and there is no fee.nn**Be prepared:** Wear hiking boots/shoes\, sunscreen\, layered clothing\, water\, and snacks.
