If the Purisima north ridge lot is full\, park along Skyline Blvd. Free parking.nnBabbling brook\, enchanting forest\, towering redwoods\, gorgeous ocean view\, cool weather\, … what else could one wish for?! Situated on the western slope of the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Half Moon Bay\, Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is a jewel of Peninsula Preserves.nWe will be descending into the canyon for the first few miles and then steep incline on the way back. But the stunning views make it well worth it. Please evaluate your hiking ability realistically to ensure you can hike back up. It is a short hike with little net gain in elevation. The trek is well worth it\, but is a little bit rocky at some spots. The views from Dog Mountain are spectacular. Mount Baker\, the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland\, Stanley Park and the Strait of Georgia are all prominently on display. Dogs are welcome\, but must be on a leash. The trail is kid friendly as well. Be prepared to say a fun fact about your hometown\, careers\, or yourself while respecting others. We will see the spot where the North Fork of the American River meets the rocks for an outstanding view of cascading water. This beautiful trail passes under the tallest bridge in California\, Foresthill Bridge.nn**Parking Information:** Parking is not an issue at the pinned location\, but you need to have $10 cash to pay for it.nn**Be Prepared:** Please be prepared with layered clothing\, sunscreen and/or hat\, sturdy hiking shoes/boots and at least two liters of water.
