SUMMARY:Lake Anza Nature and Wildlife
DESCRIPTION:**Event**: 138n**Distance**: 5.5 milesn**Total Elevation Gain**: 700 ft.n**Difficulty**: 5 out of 10n**Gathering location**: (37.896194295536525\, -122.25214637776963)nn**Hike Overview**nCome explore the varied scenery found in the Tilden Nature Area. We will start this lovely hike over near Lake Anza\, but turn in the direction of Jewel Lake. We then proceed up some lovely canyon trails until we get to our break spot on Wildcat Peak with great views overlooking the Bay. We circle back through the scenic Wildcat gorge to Lake Anza and return to our cars. We will hike at a moderate pace\, 20-25 minute miles and occasionally stop to regroup. I rate this a moderate hike for the overall distance and the steady climb up to the top of Nimitz way. We’ll hit the trail sharp at 9:30 am.nn**Be Prepared**nPlease prepare with layered clothing\, sunscreen and/or hat\, sturdy hiking shoes/boots and at least two liters of water. You may want to bring a wind breaker for the top of the ridgeline. There are bathrooms at the beginning of this hike and at about a mile from the end.nn**Cautions**nPoison oak grows along several narrow sections of the trial so please stay on the trails. Ticks are common in East Bay Parks. Rattlesnakes are a slight possibility.nSorry but dogs are not allowed in the Tilden Nature Area.nn**Meeting Point/Staging Area**nWe will meet at the parking lot by the Lake Anza swim area. Please check your GPS in advance to make sure it is bringing you to the correct location.nn**DO NOT ATTEND**: If you’re experiencing any cold or flu symptoms\, have compromised immune systems\, or if you’ve been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19.nn**Legal Disclaimers**: By voluntarily joining us for any event\, you hereby RELEASE and DISCHARGE Nature Bloomers organizers\, hosts and participants from any and all liability\, claims\, demands or causes of action arising in whole or in part out of our events.nn**Good Hiking Etiquettes**: Please update your RSVP at least 48 hours prior to the event if there’s a change. If you RSVP “Yes” and/or attend any of our events\, it shall be conclusively presumed that you understand and agree to this policy. Only RSVP if you’re 100% going to make it.
