DESCRIPTION:**Event**: 140nnWith regard to the ***Nature and Water Conservancy ***mission of ***Nature Bloomers***\, we have scheduled a tour of the ***Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center***\, on Sunday January 8th\, 2023. The tour is ***free of charge*** and aims at bringing awareness on how technology has helped humans to accomplish water scarcity issues.nnDuring our tour an intro to Valley Water\, their mission\, and what they do will be given. Then there will be a walk through the facility\, followed by the look through processes used in the center like Microfiltration\, Reverse Osmosis\, and UV light. We also highlight the wonderful possibilities that can stem from the technology. At the end we offer an opportunity to speak with the plant operators or engineers to touch on the more technical questions your folks may have. I hope this answers your questions.nThe number of attendees will be limited to only 18. To reserve your spot\, RSVP and **make sure** you’ll be able to join. **Last minute cancellations** and “**no shows**” are frowned upon and will result in you getting removed from the group.nn**Note:** Your RSVP is finalized only if the waiver form is submitted.nhttps://purewater4u.org/tour-waiver/nn**Arrival:**nPlease arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tour start time.nThose that arrive late may not be able to attend the tour.nClosed-toe shoes must be worn for the tour.nMasks are optional for the indoor portions of the tour.nWe recommend bringing personal ear buds if they have a standard jack (Size 3.5mm) otherwise we can supply headphones for the tour.nn**Parking:**nOn-site parking in designated areas and along the exterior perimeter of the parking area.nLook for the tour sign. Go up to the classroom via the ramp. Tour Guides will be able to guide you if spaces aren’t available.n**TOUR AND MEDIA GUIDELINES**:nFilming using a video camera\, mobile device\, tablets\, or other electronic devices is strictly prohibited and against Valley Water policies. Tour participants need to remain with the tour group for the entire tour and comply with instructions on permissible tour areas. Touching of Purification Center equipment is not permitted\, with the exception of designated tour demo equipment. The views from the top over the entire Bay Area are very rewarding. Mission Peak Loop features beautiful wild flowers. On a clear day hikers can see the skylines of Oakland\, San Francisco and San Jose. The trail is a well maintained gravel base until the last half mile. From this point the trail is hard pack dirt and rocky. The trail offers a number of activity options\, such as horse riding and is accessible year-round. Dogs are allowed on leash in developed areas. Let’s catch some beautiful views\, and get a great workout! Meet at 9:15 am and start promptly at 9:30 am.nn**Be Prepared**nPlease prepare with layered clothing\, sunscreen and/or hat (no shade)\, sturdy hiking shoes/boots\, at least two liters of water\, snacks (we will stop for 20-30 minutes break at the top)\, poles (optional)\, and a good attitude!😎nn**Meeting Point/Staging Area**nWe will meet at the parking lot. Let’s meet up for a green exercise and go on a Wellness Hike with a lot of good news and laughter to share. The town of Portola Valley is a runner’s and hiker’s paradise\, with as many miles of trails as there are paved roads. The trails are interwoven throughout the town\, connecting to residential streets. The highlight of the Portola Valley trail system is Coal Mine Ridge. This 400-acre wooded ridge\, located between Alpine Road and Los Trancos Road\, contains about ten miles of trails. The name “Coal Mine Ridge” comes from a low-grade coal mine that was opened on the ridge in 1855. Meet at 9:15 am and start promptly at 9:30 am.n**Be Prepared**nThere is a chance of light rain!! And history has shown that Nature Bloomers love walking under the leaves of wet trees.
