The park opened in 1978\, born from local efforts to preserve open space instead of allowing development. \nThe park features scenic views and natural beauty. Trails offer stellar panoramas of the Peninsula and San Francisco Bay\, with a peaceful\, wooded atmosphere just minutes from urban areas. We will be starting the hiking promptly at 8.00 am.\n \n  \nNote \n\nWe will be having a POTLUCK breakfast after the hike. If you plan to stay\, feel free to bring your own stove for cooking and boiling\, your plates and utensils.\n\n\nFor your comfort and safety\, we recommend wearing pants and long-sleeved clothing to help protect against sun exposure and potential insect bites. The trail follows gentle terrain with a mix of shaded stretches and open vistas\, providing a peaceful escape just minutes from the the city of San Carlos. \nWe will begin the walk promptly at 8:00 am\, so please arrive a few minutes early to have enough time for parking\, enjoy the cool morning air and serene lakeside atmosphere. \n  \nNote \n\nWe will be serving hot water and black tea\, but please bring your own cup. We strongly encourage using reusable cups to help reduce waste and protect the environment. Thank you for supporting a greener gathering!\nFeel free to bring your own coffee or sweeteners to share with others.\nFor your comfort and safety\, we recommend wearing pants and long-sleeved clothing to help protect against sun exposure and potential insect bites. There’s also a small education center (museum-style) where you can learn about the park’s plants and wildlife. It’s a calm\, pretty place to stretch your legs without going far from town. \nWe’ll get started at 7:30 am. Please come a few minutes early to find parking\, enjoy the cool morning air\, and say hello before we head out. \n  \nNote \n\nWe intend to go to a local restaurant in Redwood City for brunch after the hike.\nFor your comfort and safety\, we recommend wearing pants and long-sleeved clothing to help protect against sun exposure and potential insect bites. Don’t forget sunscreen and/or a hat for added sun protection.\nDogs and other pets are not allowed.\nDo not forget to bring your positive attitude!\n\n  \nParking \nThere two parking lots. The first one is closer to the main road but farther away from the trailhead.
